In this Bossa Nova Latin Blues jam, I explored blues guitar with arpeggios. Every time the chord changes, my choice of scale changes too. I think scales as arpeggios with extension of the chords.
The rhythm is in Bossa Nova. Bossa Nova is a mellow style of samba and is part of Latin Jazz. The chord progression is Dm9 | Dm9 | Dm9 | Dm9 Gm7 | Gm7 | Dm9 | Dm9 Bb7 | A7(b13) | Dm9 | Dm9 A breakdown of what I did is, Dm9 : I used notes that is related to the chord directly or extension of the chord tones. As I am rooted in the Blues, I would throw in that blue note here and there. Gm7 : As there's two bars of Gm7, I approached this chord the same way I approached Dm9. Bb7 : With one bar of it, I think of chord tones straight away. A7(b13) : Same as Bb7. Just watch out for the b13 note! Hope this helps with your own explorations. Keep on jamming!
